Shaving, Plucking, Waxing, Laser: Which Is The Best Hair Removal Method?

By Michal Simmons

Hair. We are covered with it. Some have more than an ample growth while others grow them only in tufts or patches. Hair had a wide variety beneficial roles in those times when our prehistoric predecessors still lived in caves and slept on the soil. Hair provided them with warmth, shade, as well as a barrier to prevent insects from crawling and entering bodily crevices.

Now, an abundant growth of hair is seen as unhygienic and unattractive. Women are called up to defend their habits of personal hygiene if they are discovered to have excessive hair left to grow on their legs, arm pits, bikini line, and face.

Because of the the cultural opinion of the repulsiveness of excessive hair in women, many hair removal procedures have been developed for this particular case.

Shaving is seen as the most convenient hair removal method. Nevertheless, one drawback of using a razor to do away with hair is that the process is only temporary, considering that hair removal by shaving only cuts off the excess hair at the skin surface.

Tweezing is another hair removal method seen to be better at keeping hair regrowth to a minimum. However, it is considered very time-consuming because one needs to pluck out the hair strand one by one. Another thing to think about if you constantly pluck unwanted hairs from your body: There is a growing number of proof linked to plucking as the cause of infection in the hair shafts.

Another hair removal method is waxing. Waxing strips are warmed and then put on the legs. The hair strands stick to the softened wax. Once cool enough, the strips are pulled off (basically in a direction opposite to the hair growth); the hairs are pulled up from their follicles.

Laser is a painless and permanent clinical procedure for removing unwanted hair. Its methodology works by targeting melanin, which is responsible for the dark pigment of the hair. Once melanin is zapped, dark hair regrowth is close to impossible.

If planning to have laser hair elimination, confer with a certified dermatologic doctor to learn more about the advantages and risks of this procedure. You must make an effort to do this for your own safety and protection.
